The Write Curl Diary 30 day photo challenge: Self-portrait day 1

Today begins the 30-day photo challenge. I’m following along with GG Renee from The Write Curl Diary. She created an interested set of subjects for the challenge. I love her blog because her posts inspire self-reflection. Her post seems to come along right when you need validation or a virtual friend to confirm or guide your thoughts.

I believe parts of this challenge will encourage self-reflection. So I decided this would be a great time to challenge myself to write for the next 30-days. It’s something that I’ve been interested in doing and I think right now is the perfect time. Well perfect except for the two getaways I have planned for this month but I’m determined to keep writing while on vacation.

The first picture in the challenge is a self-portrait. When I think about the word self-portraits, I don’t think about the pictures people snap when they’re feeling pretty. I think more thought goes into the self-portrait. I believe a self-portrait captures the personality of the person behind the camera, paint brush, or pencil.

There are a total of 6 self-portraits in this challenge and each have a varying theme. The first one is a simple self-portrait.

Here I am in all my tired glory. Tired because I had a wonderful time out with my sorority sisters last night. It was worth the droopy eyes and sluggish mood.  One of my sisters is leaving for a year to teach aboard. I will miss her but I’m glad we were able to see her before she left.

Every day I stand at this door while my dog wanders around the backyard sniffing, scratching, and marking her territory.  I’m eating this bran muffin in hopes that it will bring me enough energy to cook dinner. I was able to cook and eat a delicious meal and I’m not too far off from bed. I have sleep to catch up on. Goodnight.

Sounds like you had a great night with your sisters last night! I’m looking forward to the upcoming weekend because it’s one of my bestest, closest friends’ bachelorette weekend. It’s so rare that all of us are able to get together like that anymore! And for a whole weekend?? Definitely going to savor it.

That sounds like so much fun. I love when I get together with my friends and it seems like no time has passed at all.
